Chennai, August 19: In a shocking incident, at least 13 girls were allegedly sexually abused and one sexually assaulted at a "fake" National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri, a report said. Police have arrested 11 people, including the camp organiser, the school’s principal, two teachers, and a correspondent.

According to a report published by NDTV, an investigation into the sexual abuse of 13 girl students in Tamil Nadu revealed that the private school did not have an NCC unit. The organisers had misled the school management, claiming that hosting the camp would help them qualify for an NCC unit. The school failed to conduct background checks on the group responsible for the camp. ‘Kindly See Your Lakshmi at Home Is Safe Before Availing Lakshmi Bhandar’: RG Kar Hospital Rape and Murder Victim’s Parents Demand Justice for Daughter, Say ‘Lost Trust in Mamata Banerjee’ (Watch Video).

13 Girls Fall Victim to Sex Crime at 'Fake' NCC Camp in Tamil Nadu

The three-day camp, held earlier this month, saw participation from 41 students, including 17 girls. The girls were housed in the school auditorium on the first floor, while the boys stayed on the ground floor. No teachers were assigned to supervise the camp. The girls alleged that they were lured out of the auditorium and sexually abused.

School Authorities Stayed Silent on Sex Crimes

District Superintendent of Police, P Thangadurai, said that the school authorities were aware of the sexual offences but chose to suppress the matter instead of informing the police. The students were allegedly instructed not to take the incidents seriously. Bengaluru Shocker: Returning From Party Young Woman Raped by Auto-Rickshaw Driver in Koramangala.

The police are investigating whether the group behind the fake NCC camp has conducted similar camps in other schools. The accused have been charged under the Protection Of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Medical examinations of the girls have been conducted, and the District Child Welfare Committee has initiated action.

This incident comes amid nationwide outrage over the horrific rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.
