Salem, December 27: In a shocking development, a three-month-old pregnant woman from Salem district of Tamil Nadu was killed by her own husband for 8-gram gold coin, police said on Thursday. The husband, Rajavel, when arrested stated that his wife, Bhuvaneswari, committed suicide but after he was taken into custody, Rajavel confessed to the crime, reported Times NowMan Murders Wife Over Extramarital Affair, Confesses Crime in a Self-Shot Video & Kills Himself.

The crime was unfolded by Bhuvaneswari's mother Satya, who got suspicious and registered a police complaint. The local police officials started a probe into her death. Police also sent Bhuvaneswari's body for an autopsy which revealed that she had wounds on her face and head. Going back to the case, on December 19, the victim got 8-Gram sovereign gold under Tamil Nadu government's Marriage assistance scheme. Bhuvaneswari gave it to her mother Satya for safe keeping. later that week, Bhuvaneswari's father Chandran brought a new bike from his savings. But Rajavel doubted that he brought new motorcycle by selling the gold coin, reported Times Now.

Angry over this, a fight emerged between Rajavel and the victim over the issue. Bhuvaneswari stated that she gave a gold coin to her family because they bore the full expense of their marriage. In a spate of anger, Rajavel assaulted Bhuvaneshvari and pushed her, which resulted in a severe injury and she fainted.

Not only this, Rajavel further used a pillow to suffocate her and then clamped her neck with a rope. Later to look it as a suicide, he hung her body in the ceiling fan in a bid to prove that she committed suicide. After the crime was proved, Rajavel was booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
