Tamil Nadu Rains: 2 Dead After Railway Building at Coimbatore Station Collapses Due to Heavy Rainfall

Coimbatore, August 8: In a tragic incident, at least two people were killed after a railway building at Coimbatore railway station in Tamil Nadu collapsed on Thursday. According to a tweet by ANI, three others have been admitted to hospital with critical injuries. The tragic incident took place at around 4:00 am on Thursday. Heavy rainfall continued to lash Karnataka, Kerala and neighbouring states since the last few days. The Regional Meteorological Department in its latest bulletin predicts heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts of Tamil Nadu in the coming days. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu until August 10.

Earlier this week, the Kattankulathur and Mahabalipuram regions received highest rainfall in the city at 25 mm. Kancheepuram recorded 21 mm with Kelambakkam getting 19 mm of rainfall.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall for Chennai in some areas for the next two days. With cloudy skies, maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 27 degree Celsius respectively.
