Chennai, December 22: The Tamil Nadu Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Sunday detained an Indian passenger at Chennai airport coming from Bangkok, for smuggling exotic species of animals and reptiles. The agency seized 12 Kangaroo rats, three Prairie dogs, one red squirrel and five Iguana lizards from the man's possession. The rodents and reptiles will be sent back to Bangkok, reported ANI. In a similar incident in the beginning of the year, a leopard cub was seized from a passenger at the Chennai International Airport. The man was returning from Bangkok. The leopard cub was then handed over to the forest department and was put under rehabilitation at Vandalur Zoo in Chennai.
