Chennai, July 15: A 29-year-old woman allegedly murdered her husband following a heated argument over his alcohol addiction in Tamil Nadu's Madurai on Sunday, July 14. The incident occurred at their residence in the Anuppanadi housing board. The accused woman was identified as Kanimozhi, while her husband was named Karthick.
According to The New Indian Express, Karthick (36), who had returned from working abroad a few years ago and was employed as an auto driver, had developed a severe alcohol addiction in recent months. This led to frequent arguments with his wife. On Sunday afternoon, Karthick came home intoxicated and engaged in a violent altercation with Kanimozhi. In a fit of rage, she attacked him with a roti roller and an iron spatula, causing severe facial injuries. She then fatally stabbed him with a culinary cutting tool. Neighbours alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered Karthick’s body. Preliminary investigations revealed that Karthick had been physically abusive towards Kanimozhi and their children while under the influence of alcohol. Kanimozhi has been arrested, and an inquiry is ongoing.

The argument reportedly stemmed from Selvakumar’s employment at a juice shop near Malathi’s father’s house, which angered her. In the heat of the moment, Malathi poured hot oil on Selvakumar, causing significant burns. The Appanthirupathi police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.
