Chennai, September 2: R Chinnathambi, father of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Bhaskar has issued a statement denying reports of his admission to IT officials of his son collecting bribes to give jobs. Last year in April, IT officials had seized Rs 12,96,000 during raids. According to reports, the cash was found inside brown covers with names of the respective candidates written on each cover for a job in the nutritional meal programme.
Yesterday, reports surfaced in the media about the Tamil Nadu health minister’s father accepted that his son collected bribe to give jobs. However, the health minister had denied such allegations saying that he was not involved in any bribe and had no idea about any transactions. According to media reports, The IT department also recovered two documents from the email ID of the minister's PA in connection with the case.
Bhaskar is under the scanner of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) due to his alleged involvement in the Gutka Scam. The CBI on Wednesday examined manufacturer of MDM brand of gutka and others. The interrogation was carried out by a special team comprising officials from the CBI’s Anti-Corruption (III) Unit, New Delhi.
