Hyderabad, February 5: Swine Flu cases in Telangana have been rising at an alarming rate with near 330 positive cases reported at Institute Of Preventive Medicine in Hyderabad in 2019. According to Dr Shankar, Director of the Institute, in January, a total of 1656 cases were tested of which 307 cases were tested positive. He added saying that in February 2019, nearly 23 out of 246 cases were tested positive. "As the temperature is falling down, swine flu cases are increasing", the doctor said. According to reports, the situation in the state was reviewed and an alert was sounded. The officials have been instructed to follow proper medication. In India, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Maharashtra are among the states that have been majorly affected by swine flu cases recently. Swine flu is an infection caused by one of several swine influenza viruses (SIV), with the H1N1 strain being the most common across the country. The H1N1 virus spreads when an individual touches an infected person or breathes droplets of coughs and sneezes that are in the air.

On February 2, as many as 84 people lost their lives due to swine flu across the state between January 1 to February 2. According to reports, over 2,289 positive cases were reported from across the state during the same period. The symptoms are same as of the seasonal flu, also known as the viral fever which include a cough, sore throat, and body ache.
