SWAT Team of 36 Women Commandos From Northeast India to be Guard Delhi And PM Narendra Modi This Independence Day
This Independence Day, Delhi is set to get a SWAT team of 36 women commandos for the first team.
New Delhi, August 10: This Independence Day, Delhi is set to get a SWAT team of 36 women commandos for the first team. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is set to induct the all-women commando squad from the northeastern states of India into the Delhi Police team on Friday. The team will be deployed for the security of the national capital as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2018.
The 36 power women have been trained under a special team rigorously for 15 months. While SWAT teams are usually trained for 12 months, this team has received special training and are being said to be much stronger and dangerous for the enemy.
The team has 13 women commandos from Assam, five each from Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur, four from Meghalaya, two from Nagaland and one each from Mizoram and Tripura. The team has been conceptualised by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik.
The team has also received NSG as well as language training. They have been trained for unarmed combat, ambush jungle operation, urban operations and much more.
The 36 women will be deputed across central and south Delhi at strategic locations. They will also be deployed at the Red Fort and India Gate on the backdrop of Intelligence alerts of possible fidayeen attacks by women terrorists.
