Pune, November 6: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has come up with one of its kind cleanliness drive for making people aware of the importance of cleanliness in their surrounding. The PMC is taking a strict action against those who are littering and spitting in the public spaces. Anyone who spits in the public places is made to wipe it off by own. This drive will help PMC to maintain cleanliness in the city.
Saurabh Rao, Pune Municipal Commissioner, while talking to India Today said that this step will help them to create awareness and reach out to the people ahead of Swachh Survekshan 2019. The initiative is gaining pace and got many reactions by the people, this drive is widely applauded by many punekars. Difference Between 'Swachhata Hi Seva' & 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
Earlier this year, Pune made into the list of top 10 cleanest cities in the country. Pune was ranked in 10th position by performing better than Greater Mumbai ranked 18 and Pimpri Chinchwad ranked 43 but was placed behind Navi Mumbai ranked at 9th position. Every year government runs survey Swachh Survekshan to check the cleanliness and sanitation of the cities across India. Swachh Survekshan 2019 is scheduled between January 4-31, 2019.
