India is celebrating the day as Parakram Parv and events have been planned at different locations across the country. The Indian Army had inflicted casualties on the Pakistan side during the operation to avenge the Uri terror attacks of 2016. The Indian Army lost 19 jawans in the Uri attack that was carried out by four terrorists. The Indian forces avenged the attack by killing 38 terrorists and two soldiers of the Pakistan Army in the cross-border attack. The surgical strikes were carried out by the Indian Army in Bhimber, Hotspring, Kel and Lipa sectors in the Pakistan side of the Line of Control. The Army and Special Forces commandos were airdropped at the LoC from where they crossed to the Pakistani side. Two years on, India is today celebrating Parakram Parv (Surgical Strike Day) to commemorate the jawans who avenged the killings of Indian soldiers in the Uri attack by four terrorists.
Recently, Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat said that India was ready for another such operation against Pakistan if the need arises.
