New Delhi, September 2018: Just two days ahead of Parakram Parv (Surgical Strike Day), fresh images and videos of the 2016 surgical strikes by the Indian Army on Pakistan have surfaced in the media. News channel CNN-News18 on Thursday played never seen before visuals of the Indian Army operation. These come months after video clips of the strikes were also out in the social media and the media earlier this year.

In June 2018, video clips of surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army on September 29, 2016, emerged and were broadcast on several news channels. These clips showed how the Indian Army jawans killed terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and destroyed bunkers.

Pakistan had dismissed the surgical strikes video footage released in June calling it "a figment of India's imagination."

Surgical Strike Day

This year onwards, September 29 will be celebrated as surgical strike day or Parakram Parv as stated by the Narendra Modi government. The Centre has planned to direct the private news channels and radio stations to commemorate the day through their platforms.

Reports also say that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Prasoon Joshi has been requested to pen a "special" anthem to mark the Surgical Strike Day.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also issued a circular to the vice-chancellors of all universities providing a list of activities which may be undertaken to celebrate the 'Surgical Strike Day'. The prescribed events by the University Grants Commission for the celebration include talk sessions by ex-servicemen about sacrifices by the armed forces, special parades by NCC and visit exhibitions among other events.
