Surendra Singh Murder Case: Uttar Pradesh Police Detains 7 Suspects, Forms 3 PAC Companies to Nab Killers of Smriti Irani's Aide

Hours after the former village head - Surendra Singh - of Barauli village in Amethi was shot, Uttar Pradesh Police have detained seven suspects for questioning. Top cop also informed that 3 companies of PAC are deputed to nab killers of Smriti Irani's aide.

Amethi, May 26: Hours after the former village head - Surendra Singh - of Barauli village in Amethi was shot, Uttar Pradesh Police have detained seven suspects for questioning on Sunday. The village was the same person who campaigned actively for Smriti Irani in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Briefing about the situation of investigation, state's DGP OP Singh said, as ANI quotes, "Intensive investigation underway. We've found vital clues. 7 people detained for questioning. We're confident of solving the case in the next 12hrs. 3 companies of PAC are deputed, no law & order situation." Amethi: Surendra Singh, BJP Worker And Smriti Irani Aide, Shot Dead by Unidentified Assailants 

According to the incident, the bike-borne assailants came in the night on Saturday, when Singh was asleep in the verandah outside his home. The gunmen launched open fire and escaped from the spot. Though he was rushed to the nearest medical facility, where he was declared on arrival.

With the murder of village head - played a key role in galvanising BJP workers and laying the groundwork for Smriti Irani - speculations on whether vindictive politics have gained momentum of political vendetta in Amethi. It is to be known that for the first time in 39 years, Nehru-Gandhi bastion was eroded in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
