Surat, May 1: A 13-year-old teenager managed to carry off a daring robbery in which he used a pipe to crawl down two stories and get into a flat to steal belongings valued at Rs 10 lakh. The latter planned and executed the whole adventure to get an expensive smartphone so he could continue to enjoy his favourite TV show C.I.D. The information was made public on Tuesday, April 30, after the Umra police discovered that the teenager was behind the robbery that took place on April 26 at the upscale Vastu Luxuria Apartment in the Piplod region in Surat, Gujarat.

The boy is a resident of Rajasthan and had come with Chandmal, the third-floor resident in the apartment, to play with a child in his household. The teenager took off Chandmal's bathroom's ventilation system and climbed down the building's common pipeline to reach the bathroom on the first floor. He stole a 120-gram gold bracelet valued at Rs 6.40 lakh, a 40-gram gold chain valued at Rs 2.08 lakh, a 10-gram gold ring valued at Rs 52,000, and Rs 10,000 in cash from Priyanka Kothari's flat. After taking all of these things with him, he ascended the pipeline by the same manner and hid the valuables under the bathroom ceiling. The investigation officials were able to crack the case after a forensic probe revealed footprints of a minor on the bathroom floor of Kothari. After being caught, the boy told the police that he was obsessed with the C.I.D TV serial and wanted to buy himself an expensive phone to watch the show.
