Surat, May 25: All tuition classes in Surat region have been been ordered to temporarily stop their operations in the aftermath of the tragedy which struck the city on Friday. The police department have directed the coaching institutes to resume classes only after conducting the requitise safety checks and obtaining the fire safety certification.

The order was issued by Surat Police Commissioner Satish Sharma, a day after a major blaze at a coaching centre in Takshashila Complex ended up killing 20 people, including 19 students. Surat: Huge Fire at Coaching Centre; 19 Students Dead, 8 Injured; Watch Horrific Video

"All type of tuition classes have been stopped for now, classes can only be conducted after the required fire safety checks are done and a fire safety certificate has been obtained," Sharma said.

'Man Running Coaching Institute at Takshashila Complex Arrested'

The police chief told reporters in Surat that the person running the coaching institute at Takshashila Complex, which went up in flames yesterday, has been arrested.

"Have arrested the man who used to conduct the tuition classes," he said, adding that the FIR registered in the case names Complex builders Harshal Vakharia and Jignesh as prime accused, along with Bhargav Bhutani, the owner of the coaching centre.

"20 people have died and more than 20 have been injured in the fire that broke out in Surat yesterday. An FIR has been registered against three people," the police chief confirmed, adding that strictest action would be taken against all those involved.
