Supreme Court Verdict on Sabarimala Temple Case to be Delivered on Thursday
On September 28 last year, the apex court allowed women of all ages to enter the temple. There were several protests and rallies and women who tried to enter the temple were turned away. On January 2 this year, two women managed to enter the temple and pray with the support of the police.
New Delhi, November 13: The Supreme Court on Thursday will pronounce its judgement on review petitions against the verdict allowing entry of women of all age groups into the Sabarimala temple. The judgment will be pronounced by a Bench of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Rohinton Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra.
Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Tuesday asked the BJP, which has welcomed the recent Supreme Court order on Ayodhya, to also respect the apex court verdict on Sabarimala permitting women of all ages to pray at the Lord Ayyappa shrine. The Apex court is now expected to give its final verdict after 64 review petitions have been filed asking the apex court to ensure that the traditions and culture of the famed temple are protected.

This led to more confusion and no further attempts to enter the temple were made by the barred age group.
The Kerala Police has decided to deploy 10,017 officers in and around Sabarimala for this festive season. The deployment of the police will be done over five phases starting from November 15.
Earlier in the day, Supreme Court upheld the disqualification of the rebel MLAs in Karnataka by the then assembly speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. The Apex court further allowed the 17 Karnataka MLAs to contest the by-elections in the state.
