New Delhi, January 7: Several lawyers of the Supreme Court gathered in the Court complex on Tuesday afternoon and read out the preamble to the Constitution of India in unison. According to a report by Bar and Bench, the gathering dispersed immediately after the lawyers completed reading the Preamble. A lawyer was quoted in the report saying that the Preamble was being read in order to uphold the constitutional values and reminding the judiciary about the Constitution of India.

Recently, several lawyers of the Madras High Court had read out the Preamble in the similar way. According to a report by The News Minute, over 250 advocates from the Madras High Court and several law students formed a human chain in front of the court's premises on January 3 in protest against the CAA.

On Monday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said the state government will take steps to make reading of the preamble to the Constitution as part of school and college morning assembly. The practice aims to ensure that constitution studies be made an inevitable part of the curriculum at a time when the constitution and its values are under attack, he said.
