Super 30 Founder Anand Kumar Accused of Fraud, IIT-G Students Move Guwahati Court Seeking Action Against Him

Guwahati, Sept 22: Patna-based mathematician Anand Kumar, who has earned fame for his 'Super 30' coaching institute, has been accused of fraud by students of Indian Institute of Technology (Guwahati). The IIT-G students have moved a PIL before the Guwahati High Court, seeking penal action against Kumar.

The students claim that Kumar has been misleading the nation and running a fake propaganda campaign relating to his success as a mathematics tutor. The complainants allege that the students shortlisted by him from the "economically backward classes" are not provided coaching for free. Instead, they are asked to pay Rs 33,000 after reaching Patna, for enrollment in his Ramanujan School of Mathematics. Anand Kumar of Super 30 Fame Accused of Fudging Success Numbers and Misleading Students.

The complainants claim that they have personally verified the plight of EBC students, who were called to Patna by Kumar on the pretext of providing free coaching.

Senior advocate Ashok Saraf, who moved the litigation on behalf of the IIT_G students, said Kumar has been misprojecting his success over the past decade to attain limelight. Whenever IIT entrance exam results are announced, Kumar appears before the media with some students claiming that they have passed, he added.

The plea was admitted by the Guwahati High Court on Friday. The bench has asked Kumar to respond within next eight weeks to the charges levelled against him.

This is not the first time Kumar has been levelled with fraudery charges. In July, the Patna High Court was petitioned by advocate Manibhushan Pratap Sengar, who demanded a CBI probe into the functioning of the Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics.
