Bengaluru, September 29: Members of Karave Yuva Sene, the youth wing of pro-Kannada outfit Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), today tore the posters of 'Veeramahadevi' as a mark of protest against the presence of actress Sunny Leone as the lead role in the movie. ‘Veeramadevi’ is a multi-lingual action film which is scheduled to release in the first week of October.
KRV’s Yuva Sena state president Harish said that his organisation is against Sunny Leone doing the role of ‘Veeramadevi’, as she had acted in porn movies earlier. While interacting with reporters, he said that her portraying the main lead in the movie is an insult to the ancient warrior queen. The activist also stated that his group members would soon be meeting Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and would demand the state government’s intervention in the matter. The KRV’s state president also said that they are not against the show which is scheduled for November 3, but they are against Sunny Leone’s presence in the show. Leone is to perform at the popular White Orchid Hotel in Bengaluru. Earlier, the KRV had said that they were not opposed to Sunny Leone performing in the city. Praveen Shetty of KRV on September 25 said that she was free to come to the city and perform, but they were insisting that in November, Kannada should be promoted.
Similarly, in December 2017, the event in which the Bollywood actor was set to perform in was eventually cancelled as authorities said that they could not spare police force to provide security on New Year's Eve. The KRV was formed in December 2017 and rose to prominence following its protest against Leone.
