Sunanda Pushkar Death Case: Shashi Tharoor Requests Patiala House Court To Restrain Police From Making Chargesheet Copy Public to any Third Person

New Delhi, July 7: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday moved the application before Patiala House Court to restrain the Delhi police from providing a copy of chargesheet of Sunanda Pushkar death case to any third person. Following this, the Court has issued a notice to Delhi police in connection with his application seeking a fair trial.

Earlier today, Tharoor was granted regular bail by a Delhi court in connection with the case relating to his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death. Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in the city on the night of January 17, 2014. The couple was staying in the hotel, as the official bungalow of Shashi Tharoor was being renovated at that time, a PTI report informed.

The Judge said "no requirement to file a formal bail and an anticipatory bail had been granted by session's court. "Magistrates had issues summons and we applied for anticipatory bail which was granted and we just had to appear", said Shashi Tharoor's Counsel Vikas Pahwa.

According to a PTI report, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal then directed him to furnish a bail bond of Rs one lakh and one surety of like amount as directed by the sessions court and converted the interim relief to regular bail. The Thiruvananthapuram MP, who was summoned as an accused in the case, appeared before the court and informed it that he had already been granted anticipatory bail by a sessions court on July 5.
