Chennai, October 28: Search operation to look for Sujith Wilson, the two-year-old boy who fell into an abandoned borewell in Tamil Nadu, continued for the fourth day on Monday. According to a tweet by ANI, the drilling process is currently underway to rescue the kid who fell into a 25 ft deep borewell in Nadukattupatti, Tiruchirappalli on October 25. The infant, identified as Sujith Wilson, fell into the borewell at about 5.30 pm on Friday while playing and got stuck at 30 feet. Later, he slipped further down and got stuck at about 100 feet. Soon after the incident was reported, rescue teams rushed the spot to take a stock of the situation. They first dug the land adjacent to the borewell, using an earthmover, to create a tunnel to reach Sujith. Reports inform that the fire service team stopped drilling the land due to rock terrains below 10 feet. The medical team is providing oxygen supply to the boy from outside the borewell, where rescue operations are still underway. Several techniques were used to dig a pit near the borewell to reach the kid, but it was stopped as the terrain was rocky. Reports inform that breaking part of the rocky terrain with the earthmoving equipment would result in vibrations that may loosen the soil inside the borewell. This would slip the boy further down. Later, the rescue team used a special equipment 'borewell robot'. But that too was not successful.

On Sunday, an ONGC rig has been deployed to dig a hole near the borewell into which firemen would go down and reach out to the boy burrowing a tunnel inside. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) took over the rescue operations as other techniques used to take the boy out of the borewell failed on Saturday.
On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has expressed deep concern for the safety of the two-year old boy. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "While the nation celebrates Deepavali, in Tamil Nadu a race against time is underway to save baby Surjeeth, who has been trapped in a borewell for over 72 hrs now. I pray that he will be rescued & reunited with his distraught parents at the earliest."
Reports inform that several political leaders including State Health Minister Vijayabaakar, Tourism minister Natarajan, Collector Sivarasu and SP Ziaul Haq are looking into the matter and directing the authorities concerned to try their best and rescue Sujith at earliest.
