Pune, September 17: A shocking incident of suicide has come to light from Maharashtra, where a man allegedly ended his life by jumping into a river in Pune. The deceased man has been identified as Shrikant Vilas Deshmukh, a businessman from the Dhankawadi area. Cops said that Shrikant died by suicide after he jumped into a river flowing through the Varandha Ghat on Sunday, September 15.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Deshmukh allegedly ended his life after he left his home following a fight with his wife. Speaking about the incident, police officials said that Deshmukh informed his wife about his decision to end his life and even sent the current location to her before dying by suicide. Cops also said that they suspect Deshumkh to be upset because of the quarrel with his wife, which is why he left his home. Victim Informs Wife About His Decision to End Life
After leaving his house, Deshmukh took his car and drove to the Varandha Ghat area near Bhor, from where he sent a message to his wife. Deshmukh told his wife about his decision to commit suicide. An officer said that Deshmukh also sent his current location to his wife along with the message. When Deshmukh's wife received the message, she alerted the police control room and sought help.

Soon, a police team reached the location, but they could not find Shrikant. After this, cops launched a search operation in the area, which led them to his car, which was parked about five kilometres from the location he sent his wife. Following this, a rescue operation was launched, during which the police fished out Shrikant's body from the river at around 11 PM. Meanwhile, cops have registered a case of accidental death in connection with the incident. The police have also initiated an inquiry to confirm the cause behind Shrikanth's death. Deshmukh is survived by his wife and two children.
