Students Use Rope Ladder to Climb a Hillock in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli to Reach School, Watch Pics of Kids Risking Their Lives

Uttarakhand has been witnessing a heavy downpour where nearly a dozen houses, ten shops and six vehicles were swept away. Officials informed that cloudburst hit in Tharali and Ghat areas of Chamoli district early on Monday. No casualties have been reported.

Dehradun, July 17:  Shocking visuals from Chamoli district of Uttarakhand show students risking their lives and facing a harrowing time to reach schools. According to a tweet by ANI, students were seen using a rope ladder to climb a hillock to get to school after a bridge over Chuflagad river was washed. The bridged swept away last night following heavy rainfall in Ghat area of the hill state.

The District Disaster Management Centre in Chamoli said shops and several vehicles were washed away after a cloudburst flooded Pranmati River on way to Ratgaon in Dharbagad area of Tharali at around 3 am. There were also reports of seven houses being washed away in Maukh Malla village of Serabagad area of Chamoli. Chamoli District Magistrate Ashish Joshi said the relief and rescue teams have been rushed to affected areas.

In a similar incident, students in Karnataka's Chikmagalur were the old log bridge to cross streams that are overflowing due to heavy rainfall, to reach their school in Kammaradi. People, including school kids, are facing great difficulty to commute and have to cross a river through a damaged bridge.
