Mumbai, February 24: In a shocking incident that took place in Gujarat, a stray dog went on a biting spree as it bit at least 15 people in Vadodara. The incident took place Thursday morning when the stray dog bit 15 people in Waghodiya village near Vadodara. Officials said that the incident took place on a busy street between a mosque and the government health centre in the village.
Health centre officials said that at least 15 people came to them with dog bites, reports the Times of India. The official also said that it was the same dog that bit the 15 people, however, sources refuted the claims and said that it was a pack of canine who went on a biting spree. "They were 10 men and five women. The street is busy with several vendors and the dog went on a biting spree there. No one was mauled in the incident and all the cases were of adults," the official at the health centre said. All the people who were bitten by the stray dog were administered tetanus and anti-rabies vaccines.
Meanwhile, a few others who sustained minor injuries were given first aid. The official also said that four people sustained serious bite injuries in the dog attack and they were sent to SSG Hospital for treatment. After the incident came to light, locals said that the village panchayat had requested the administration to cage stray dogs. The law suggests that dogs who do not carry rabies must be vaccinated and released once animal birth control surgeries are performed on them. In a similar incident that took place in Telangana, a stray dog bit nine people in Rangareddy district's Yacharam.
