Additionally, the multi-commodity exchange will be shut for both morning and evening sessions. Regular trading will resume on October 3. The next stock market holiday is scheduled for November 1 due to Diwali Laxmi Pujan, though a special Muhurat trading session will be held that day to mark the beginning of Samvat 2081.
On the trading front, benchmark indices extended their losing streak for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. The BSE Sensex dipped 33.49 points, or 0.04%, to close at 84,266.29, after fluctuating between a high of 84,648.40 and a low of 84,098.94. Market analysts attributed the downturn to subdued global trends and profit-taking in the oil and gas sector and select FMCG shares. Foreign fund outflows further dampened investor sentiment. Since Friday, the Sensex has lost nearly 1,570 points (around 2%), and the Nifty has shed 419 points (1.6%), following China’s announcement of stimulus measures to boost its economy. This development has impacted global market trends, contributing to the extended losses in Indian markets.
Additionally, Chinese stock markets will be closed from October 1 to October 7 for China National Day, with Hong Kong’s market also shut on October 1.
