The Statue of Unity is experiencing its first rain since the inauguration in October 2018 and the videos of water dripping from the ceiling in the viewing gallery went viral in no time. Water Seepage at Statue of Unity:
Meanwhile, the representatives of the statue said that the water lying on the floor could not be termed as "leakage". “There is a glass enclosure at the back and there is no water collected there. However the front of the gallery at the chest is open as per the design and it is natural that the rain will come into the standing area," IK Patel, CEO of Statue of Unity told The Indian Express.
The tallest statue in the world was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in October last year. The project took 42 months at a budget of Rs 2,989 crore, and round-the-clock work by 3,400 workers and over 200 engineers. In 2012, the foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in 2012, who was then Gujarat CM.
