New Delhi, March 8: The Supreme Court on Friday paved way for a permanent solution to Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute issue and ordered a mediation process in the case. The mediation panel will comprise of Justice FM Kalifulla (Retd), Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Sriram Panchu. The top Court in its judgment said that Justice Kalifulla will be the chairman and the mediation proceedings of the case will remain confidential and media cannot publish details of proceedings. The entire proceedings of the mediation committee will take place in Faizabad.

Justice FM Kalifulla
- Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla is the retired judge of the Supreme Court of India. Kalifulla was born on 23 July 1951 in Karaikudi, Sivagangai District of Tamil Nadu.
- On 2 April 2012, Kalifulla was named to the Supreme Court and was sworn in by Chief Justice Sarosh Homi Kapadia. He retired from the Supreme Court of India on 22 July 2016.
- Kalifulla enrolled as an advocate in 1975. On 2 March 2000, he was appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. It was in February 2011 that he became a member of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and was appointed to serve as the acting Chief Justice two months later.
- In September 2011, he was named as the Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
- The spiritual guru has been appointed to be a part of the mediation committee for the Ayodhya case.
- On March 6, he hailed the Supreme Court for choosing to explore the mediation route to resolve the Ayodhya dispute case. “We should keep our egos and differences aside and come together with a spirit of honouring & accommodating the sentiments of the communities concerned”, he tweeted.

Sriram Panchu
- Sriram Panchu is a senior advocate and mediator and is a founder of The Mediation Chambers, which offers services in mediation and med-arb.
- He is a certified mediator on the panel of the Singapore International Mediation Centre and also has mediated international commercial disputes.
- Panchu was appointed by India's Supreme Court to mediate a 500 square kilometre dispute between the states of Assam and Nagaland, and another public dispute involving the Parsi community in Bombay.
The top Court of India has referred to him as a “distinguished mediator”, “eminent trainer” and “one of the foremost mediators in the country”. He set up India’s first court-annexed mediation centre in 2005, and has been instrumental in making mediation a part of India's legal system. He is the president of the Association of Indian Mediators and a director on the board of the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
The Supreme Court on Friday said mediators can co-opt more on the panel if necessary and said ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to provide mediators all the facilities in Faizabad. A five-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday had reserved the order after hearing various contesting parties. Fourteen appeals have been filed in the apex court against the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgment, delivered in four civil suits, that the 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be partitioned equally among the three parties -- the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.
