Spurious Liquor Kills 16 in Saharanpur, Kushinagar Districts; Yogi Adityanath Orders Probe

At least 16 people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur and Kushinagar districts.

Lucknow, February 8: At least 16 people have died in the last 24 hours allegedly after consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur and Kushinagar districts. In Saharanpur, spurious liquor was reportedly purchased from Balupur village on Uttar Pradesh- Uttarakhand border.

Following the death due to spurious liquor, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister ordered a probe and directed authorities to ensure proper medical treatment of other affected persons.

CM Yogi Adityanath ordered action against District Excise Officers and directed a 15-day joint operation of Excise and Police to take action against spurious liquor operatives.

On Wednesday, two men died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Tarya Sujan in Kushinagar district. The deceased were identified as Hari Lal and Deva.
