The current NDA regime under the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), is earning quite a name for changing "names" and scrapping of various governing bodies and important institutions that have existed for decades. The Planning Commission, which was an institution in the Government of India, which formulated India's Five-Year Plans, among other functions was dissolved after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014 and made the announcement in his first Independence Day address as the Prime Minister.
