SpiceJet Staff Finds Live Cartridge of .22 Caliber at Pune Airport From Bengaluru-Bound Passenger’s Baggage

According to a tweet by ANI, the incident was reported at Pune airport where the airline authorities detected the cartridges from the baggage of a passenger bound for Bengaluru by SpiceJet flight No. SG-519.

Pune, January 10: In a bizarre incident, SpiceJet staff on Thursday found 22 live cartridges of .22 caliber (Long Rifle) from the baggage of one of its passengers. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident was reported at Pune airport where the airline authorities detected the cartridges from the baggage of a passenger bound for Bengaluru by SpiceJet flight No. SG-519. The incident took place at about 4:45 am on Thursday. SpiceJet Starts Direct Flight Between Kolkata and Lilabari Under UDAN Scheme. 

According to reports, when the man was apprehended at The Pune airport, he couldn't produce any valid document. According to ANI, the man has been handed over to Police by the airline for further legal action. The Police has begun an investigation into the matter.

In a separate incident on Thursday morning, Spicejet's Mumbai to Dubai flight-SG13 landed back at Mumbai Airport due to a technical glitch in the aircraft. The flight was delayed by 4 hours. In its statement, the airline refuted the claims of emergency landing and said the aircraft landed normally.

“On 9th Jan 2019, flight SG-13 returned back to Mumbai due to a minor technical issue. The aircraft made a normal landing. Reports of emergency landing are wrong & baseless”. According to ANI, after the checks, the aircraft continued with its rotation and has landed at Dubai in the normal course of business.
