Mumbai, April 20: After the Jet Airways shut down, thousands of its employees were left jobless. Over 22,000 employees of Jet Airways- including pilots, technicians, cabin crews, and ground staff are staring at unemployment, but the help is pouring from an earlier arch rival. The budget carrier Spicejet on Friday said that it has already absorbed more than 500 jet employees, including 100 pilots. SpiceJet, IndiGo Add New Flights in Summer Schedule.

The budget carrier added that as it will add more aircraft and routes it will induct more workforce. SpiceJet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh in a statement on Friday said that his carrier is giving "first preference" to Jet Airways employees in recruitment. The Gurugram-based no-frills airline on Thursday announced to add 24 new flights between Mumbai and Delhi with 16 services connecting Mumbai, four to Delhi while remaining connecting two metros. These flights will be rolled out between April 26 and May 2.

Jobs for unemployed Jet staff are pouring in from various quarters. People are posting job posters on social media to help the airline employees. Meanwhile, it is unclear whether Jet Airways will ever return to the skies, but if it does, it will be under a new control structure.
