Mumbai, November 1: Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet Ahmedabad - Chennai flight was diverted to Mumbai due to a technical issue on Wednesday night, the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) informed. Earlier this month, SpiceJet's Bangkok-Delhi flight SG 88 was diverted to Varanasi owing to an onboard medical emergency. Reports inform that despite all the efforts, the passenger could not be saved.
According to the airline, the passenger, who suffered from a medical condition, was declared dead by the doctors at a local hospital in Varanasi. "SpiceJet Flight SG 88 operating from Bangkok to Delhi on October 5 was diverted to Varanasi owing to a medical emergency on board. On October 12, Surat-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi and Surat-bound SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad were the two flights diverted to Ahmedabad. According to a report by TOI, the flight diversions have become a usual phenomenon due to fog during the winter season.
Earlier in June, nearly 20 passengers were allegedly asked to take a bus after a Delhi-Patna Spicejet flight was diverted to Varanasi late night owing to bad weather conditions. Reports inform that the SG-8480 flight, which was supposed to reach Patna, landed in Varanasi at 10.40 pm.
