Sonbhadra, July 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday blamed Congress for the Sonbadhra shooting which resulted in the death of 10 tribals. During a press conference after his visit to district’s Umbha village, Adityanath said that the deaths were result of a political conspiracy which exposed anti-Dalit stand of the opposition. The UP CM said, “This incident is a very big political conspiracy. The foundations were laid in 1955 when this land was transferred to a trust.” He further added that in 1989 a Congress government in UP transferred the land (back) to individual members.

The Uttar Pradesh government also suspended police personnel responsible for the incident. Adityanath also ordered to provide compensation of Rs 18.5 lakh to the bereaved families of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh to the injured from CM Relief Fund under SC/ST provisions. Kisan Congress to Hold Nationwide Protest Against Priyanka Gandhi's Arrest.

Today, the UP CM met victims of the shooting. Adityanath was accompanied by state’s unit president Swatantra Dev Singh, director general of police O P Singh and chief secretary Anoop Chandra Pandey. He met the people who were injured during the shooting.

Yesterday, Priyanka met the families of the victims of the shooting at the Chunar guest house in Mirzapur where she was detained by the Uttar Pradesh Police. After the meeting, she returned to Delhi. While speaking to reporters she had promised to come back. She said, “I am now leaving because my purpose of meeting the families of the victims has been fulfilled. But I will return very soon. I had come here on the instructions of my brother Rahul Gandhi.”

On Wednesday, 10 people, from the Gond tribe, were killed and two dozen injured in a caste clash over a land dispute in the village. The village chief, Yagya Dutt, and 200 of his associates, fired on a group of farmers who refused to give up 36 acres of land they'd tilled for generations.
