Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh: Schools Closed in Shimla, Kinnaur and Other Areas, Temperature Dips
The snowfall has been so intense that road links connecting to upper regions in Shimla have been cut off temporarily after the continuous snowfall in the town of Kufri.
Shimla, February 27: Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla and the surrounding areas experienced heavy snowfall on early Monday morning, said reports. Along with Shimla, Narkanda, Khara Pathar and Kufri also witnessed heavy snowfall. Schools and educational institutions have been declared shut following the heavy snowfall. Earlier, due to heavy snowfall, the schools in various parts of Himachal Pradesh which were scheduled to re-open on February 13, started functioning from February 18. Traffic movements have also been affected in Shimla's circular road after the snowfall, said reports. Machines had to be used to clear the roads of snow.
Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim have been informed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) that has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm, gusty winds and lightning at isolated places in these states. News agency IANS reported that Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 2 degree Celsius.
