Snake Bite Makes Boy Undergo Rare Hand Surgery in Mumbai

The surgery is considered to be one of the most complex surgeries and was performed by Dr Nilesh Satbhai of the Wadia Hospital.

Mumbai, November 16: Doctors at Wadia Hospital in Mumbai performed a rare hand surgery on a eight-year-old boy who had developed severe deformity in his left hand which was in the danger of getting amputated. According to a report in English daily Mid-Day, the snake bit the boy while he was playing in his house in Nanded, Maharashtra. The snake had bitten the boy on left hand. But a few days later, the boy's hand was found swollen and the snake bite had turned into an infection. The boy's parents took him to a government hospital in Mumbai after local doctors suggested amputation of the hand. But, doctors at the Wadia Hospital performed a microvascular surgery and saved the boy's life. The surgery is considered to be one of the most complex surgeries and was performed by Dr Nilesh Satbhai of the Wadia Hospital.
