New Delhi, October 17: In a shocking case Chattisgarh's Rajnandgaon area, a five-month-old infant died after a cobra bite. The incident took place when the little girl's parents handed over their daughter to Saphera (Snake Charmer) to seek the blessings of the 'Naag Devta', reported Times of India. Shockingly, even after the snake's bite, the baby's parents were not serious as the snake charmer allegedly told them snake is not poisonous.

The rituals were carried out for two hours, and during that time the baby's health kept continuously deteriorating. By the time they took her to the hospital, it was too late. According to reports, Billu showed up at the house of the victim and asked them to take the blessing of 'Naag devta'. Since the baby was not keeping well, the parents handed her to Billu to carry out the rituals. After that, he put the snake around the baby's neck following which she was bitten. He reassured the couple that the snake was harmless. However, the baby's pulse started getting fainter, following which the nervous family took her to the hospital where doctors declared the girl dead. The snake charmer was beaten by the angry neighbours and handed over to the police.
