Noida, August 20: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old girl succumbed to a snake bite on the premises of GTB Hospital in Delhi. The incident took place on August 16, and despite medical efforts, the minor girl passed away during treatment on August 17.

According to a report published by the Times of India, the deceased girl, Aarti, a Class I student at Nigam Vidyalaya in Mandoli, was the daughter of Gandharv Singh, a watchman at the Public Works Department (PWD) office located in the hospital premises in Dilshad Garden. The family resides in a shack on the campus, where PWD is overseeing ongoing construction work. According to police reports, Gandharv Singh's elder son had been admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital on August 10 due to a leg injury, and Singh was with him. On the morning of August 16, Singh's wife, Ruskshana, discovered Aarti's hand had turned blue and saw a snake leaving the shack. Despite frantic efforts to wake her daughter, Aarti remained unresponsive. Ruskshana, who is hearing and speech impaired, and Gandharv Singh have two other children, Rohit (8) and Mohit (6). An FIR has been registered under Section 194 (an animal kills a person) of the BNS. Aarti's body was handed over to her family after a postmortem on Monday.
