Ranchi, August 19: In a heartbreaking incident from Jharkhand’s Singhbhum district, a 17-year-old boy, Amit Singh, tragically died after choking on a rasgulla while playing games on his phone at home on Sunday evening. The incident took place in Patmahulia village under Galudih police station.
According to Aaj Tak, Amit was relaxing on his bed, enjoying the sweet treat his uncle had brought after returning home from work outside the state for three months. As he was eating the rasgulla, it suddenly became lodged in his throat. Amit struggled to breathe, and despite his efforts, he could not dislodge the sweet. Amit’s uncle, Rohini Singh, who was the only other person at home, desperately tried to help by attempting to remove the rasgulla from his nephew’s throat with his fingers, but his attempts were unsuccessful. In a panic, family members and neighbors rushed Amit to a nearby nursing home, but by the time they arrived, it was too late. Doctors examined him and pronounced him dead on arrival. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation due to the rasgulla blocking his airway.
The local police registered a case of accidental death after being informed of the incident. The tragedy, which occurred just a day before Raksha Bandhan, has left the entire village in mourning. Amit was the only son of his parents and lived with his father, mother, and younger sister.
