Sindhudurg, September 28: In a shocking incident, four policemen and two government employees were arrested for allegedly molesting and attempting to abduct an 18-year-old nursing student from Devgad area in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, on Tuesday. According to a report in TOI, the Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate suspended Vasai traffic constables Hariram Githe (34) and Praveen Ranade (33) on Thursday for their involvement, citing dereliction of duty and tarnishing the police force's image. The other accused are Madhav Kendre (32), Shyam Githe (32), Satva Kendre (32), and Shankar Githe (33). According to the victim's complaint, around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, the men stopped near a bus depot in Jamsande village. Hariram approached her under the pretext of asking for directions, but when she tried to leave, he followed her, making obscene comments and suggesting she accompany him to Vasai. The girl's cries for help attracted passersby, who confronted the men, gheraoed the SUV, and beat them. The accused were made to squat on the road before being taken into custody. All six men have been arrested, and medical tests have been conducted to determine the alcohol content in their blood.
