New Delhi, September 2: Members of Sikh community on Monday launched a massive protest outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. The protest was against the forced conversion of minorities in Pakistan. The protestors were also seen burning effigies. Slogans were also raised against Pakistan and justice was demanded for a Sikh girl who was allegedly abducted and converted to Islam. According to reports, two Sikh girls were allegedly converted to Islam without their consent in the past few days. India expressed concern over this and Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar strongly condemned the forceful abduction, conversion and marriage of two girls.
In a recent, an 18-year-old Sikh girl, the daughter of a priest, was kidnapped and converted to Islam before she was forcefully married to a Muslim man. This incident has led tensions between Sikhs and Muslims community in Pakistan.
