Jammu, November 28: In a big win for security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari’s murderer, Naveed Jatt has been gunned down in Budgam district on Wednesday. Reports inform that Bukhari's killer, Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Naveed Jatt, has been neutralised and his body has been recovered by the police. Exchange of gunfire between terrorists and security forces was reported on Wednesday morning in Budgam's Chattergam area. Jatt, a Pakistani terrorist had killed Bukhari along with two other terrorists on June 14.
Earlier this week, six terrorists were killed in a gun battle with security forces in south Kashmir's Bijbehera area. According to a tweet by ANI, Naveed Jatt and another terrorist has been gunned down by security forces. Jatt was involved in the assassination of journalist Shujaat Bukhari.

On Friday, six terrorists were killed in a gun battle with security forces in south Kashmir's Bijbehera area. According to ANI, Bukhari's killer Azad Malik was among the 6 terrorists shot dead. Reports inform that officials had information that six or seven terrorists were hiding at Seikpora village and killed them during a search and cordon operation. Shujaat Bukhari, the veteran journalist and the editor of Rising Kashmir was shot dead by terrorists outside the newspaper's office in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar on June 14. He was instrumental in organising several conferences for peace in the Kashmir Valley and was also part of the Track II process with Pakistan.
Bukhari, who was in his 50s, was shot while leaving his office in Press Enclave in the city centre Lal Chowk for an iftar party. According to reports, one of the personal security officers (PSO) who was guarding him was killed while another policeman and a civilian were injured.
