Shopian, August 4: Stone pelting incident was reported from the Kiloora village of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district where security forces killed five terrorists. The locals pelted stones to disrupt the operations of the troops. In retaliatory action of the forces, 20 stone pelters were reported to be injured. The encounter began on Friday night around 9:30 pm. One terrorist was killed yesterday, while four were killed in the fresh firing which resumed today.

A joint operation was carried out by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area. Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told the media, “Five terrorists have been killed so far in the operation that began on Friday evening in Kiloora village.”

Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir,  S.P. Vaid tweeted, "Four more bodies of terrorists visible at encounter site (in) Kiloora, Shopian, taking the total to five terrorists killed. Good Job boys, good for peace." However, the identities of slain terrorists were not yet known.

Yesterday, the security forces killed down two terrorists at Drusu village in Sopore district. The Indian army jawan Sawar Vijay Kumar also martyred in the encounter and even on August 2, two terrorists were killed in an gunfight that broke out in Kupwara. In 2018, around 120 terrorists have been killed by the security force in the Kashmir Valley, while more than 50 security personnel lost their lives. The security forces have launched an ‘Operation All-Out’ to get rid of terrorism from the valley.
