Nandish was immediately rushed to Taluk Hospital, where he received medical attention but passed away.

Bengaluru, September 5: In an unfortunate incident in Karnataka, a toddler allegedly died after choking on a bottle cap in Shivamogga district. The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday morning, September 4, when the 18-month-old baby boy accidentally swallowed the cap of a cool drink bottle at his home in Amatekoppa village in Shivamogga's Shikaripura.

Child Accidentally Swallows Bottle Cap

The deceased boy has been identified as Nandish. Police officials said that the toddler accidentally swallowed the cap while he was playing with it. Toddler Faces Difficulty in Breathing

It is learned that the cap of the bottle got stuck in the child's throat, which led to Nandish facing difficulty in breathing. Nandish was immediately rushed to Taluk Hospital, where he received medical attention but passed away. Devastated by the loss of her child, Vedamurthy said that his son was a bundle of energy and was always curious about everything around him.

Family Cremates Child in Their Farmland

"We never thought a bottle cap would lead to such a tragedy," he added. The family is still trying to come to terms with the loss of their child. After Nandish's untimely death, the family cremated Nandish in their farmland the same evening. In a separate incident, the police arrested a woman named Sharada G of Arasikere in Hassan district on theft charges. They also recovered 530 grams of gold ornaments and INR 6,000 cash from her. Cops said that Sharada used to carry an infant in her arms and steal gold and cash from women at crowded places.
