New Delhi, July 20: Delhi Government on Saturday announced two-day state mourning over the demise of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia, while speaking to news agency ANI conveyed this information. Sheila Dikshit died on Saturday evening after suffering a cardiac arrest. Dikshit’s mortal remains were brought to her residence in Nizamuddin. Her body will be taken to the Congress headquarter in New Delhi tomorrow. Senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia paid last respects to the former Delhi CM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Dikshit’s house and condoled the family of the veteran Congress leader. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi through his tweet said that he felt devastated after hearing the news of Dikshit’s demise. Dikshit was the longest-serving CM of Delhi. She served for 15 years between 1998 and 2013. She also served as Governor of Kerala for five months between March 2014 and August 2014.
