Mumbai, November 3: A Special CBI court on Saturday rejected the bail plea filed by Indrani Mukerjea on medical grounds. Earlier last month, Indrani has sought bail citing threat to her life besides other reason and said, “Will the CBI take responsibility if I die?”. She is currently lodged in Byculla women’s prison in connection with the murder of Sheena Bora, her daughter from a previous husband. Indrani has filed a bail application before the CBI special court many times but it was rejected.
In her bail application, she had cited two instances when she was admitted for the drug overdose. On April 6, 2018, she was rushed to Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy hospital from Byculla Court in a semi-conscious state, where she underwent medical tests. The hospital authorities then said she had an overdose of antidepressants. Indrani Mukerjea Claims Someone Wants to Kill Her! Sheena Bora Murder Case Prime Accused Tells CBI Court.
In September, the court had denied bail plea of Indrani for the second time terming her reasons as 'exaggerated'. Special Judge JC Jagdale said that special arrangements such as a separate cell and CCTV's outside her cell have been provided for her safety. Earlier yesterday, special CBI court rejected the bail plea of Indrani's driver Shyamvar Rai and said that there no provision of law under which he could be granted relief in light of the application moved by him.
Indrani had been accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora with her husband Peter Mukerjea and driver Shyamvar Rai. Rai later became a witness in a case. According to the cops, Indrani killed her daughter due to a financial dispute.
