New Delhi, November 29: Possession of child pornography content, viewing and storing of such material can land you in a legal soup. The Indian government in an attempt to stop child pornography has proposed 7-year of jail terms with no bail for sharing it on cross-messaging platform WhatsApp. It is reported that the government has proposed it as a new amendment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) to prevent the sharing of pornographic content against minors. Child Porn WhatsApp Group Busted in Mumbai, Police Arrest 5 Youths.

The proposed amendment is waiting for approval of the law ministry and the ministry of woman and child development is hoping to get it by next week, said Times of India sources. India has the largest number of WhatsApp user in the world but it is also misused the most. The Indian government is trying to ensure that WhatsApp is not used for spreading the anti-social content and fake news. Following the government's order, WhatsApp has limited its forwarding limit and also set up a local office to address grievances and complaints about the wrongdoing.
