The stock markets are also preparing for the annual Muhurat Trading session, a one-hour event held on Diwali. Stockbrokers view Diwali as the start of their financial year, with many investors believing that purchasing stocks during this time invites prosperity for the coming year.

Is Stock Market Open on October 31 and November 1?

As Diwali celebrations begin, investors should note upcoming closures in the stock market. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will operate as usual on Wednesday, October 30, and Thursday, October 31, from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. However, the market will close on Friday, November 1, for Diwali, resuming regular hours the following week. Diwali Muhurat Trading 2024: NSE to Conduct Special One-Hour Trading Session of Stock Market on November 1.

When Is Diwali Muhurat Trading 2024?

The annual Diwali Muhurat trading session will be held on Friday, November 1, between 6 pm and 7 pm, with a special pre-open period from 5:45 pm to 6:30 pm for IPOs. Traditionally conducted on Laxmi Pujan, this symbolic session allows trading across equities, commodities, and other segments. The session is believed to bring prosperity, as traders often view purchases made during this time as auspicious.

  2. Stock markets will close on Friday, November 1, 2024, in observance of Diwali.
  3. A special Diwali Muhurat trading session will occur on November 1, from 6 pm to 7 pm.
  4. Muhurat trading will include a pre-open session for IPOs from 5:45 pm to 6:30 pm.
  5. All intra-day trading positions will be squared off 15 minutes before the session ends.

On Wednesday, India’s benchmark equity indices opened lower due to mixed global cues. The BSE Sensex fell 154 points to 80,215, while the NSE Nifty50 dropped 71 points, reaching 24,396 at the opening bell.
