Shailja Dwivedi Murder Case: Major Nikhil Handa Sent to 14-day Judicial Custody

New Delhi, June 29: Delhi's Patiala House Court has send Major Nikhil Handa to 14-day judicial custody. Major Nikhil Handa is an accused in Shailja Dwivedi (wife of an Indian Army major) murder case. The Delhi police on Thursday  had recovered the knife which was allegedly used by Major Handa for slitting the throat of Shailja Dwivedi.

It is reported that Handa, who is reportedly in a relationship with three women, apart from the deceased Shailja, made a call to the most aged among his girlfriends immediately after the murder. The latter, however, thought the Major was bluffing her and ended up disconnecting the call, a police officer was reported as saying by HT.

Investigators have questioned the woman who was informed about the murder by Shailja. Without revealing her details and whereabouts, the officials said she is a divorcee with two kids and has been in a relationship with the accused Major for the past couple of years.

Handa, the probing officials further revealed, reached out to unknown women through his fake Facebook account.

In Shailja's case, however, he met the deceased two years ago during a gathering of Army officials and their family members. Shailja's husband. Amit Dwivedi, is also a Major-rank official in the Indian Army.

Handa had been in contact with her over the past two years. In the past six months, they reportedly shared 3,500 calls. On the day she was murdered, Shailja was travelling in Handa's personal car when an argument broke up between the duo. Angered by Shailja's refusal to take their relationship forward, the police officials claimed, Handa ended up slitting her throat. Major Nikhil Handa was arrested from Meerut by Delhi Police on Sunday.
