Shahjahanpur Building Collapse: Two Dead, 13 Labourers Rescued From Debris, Rescue Operations Underway

Shahjahanpur, October 14: An under construction building in Shahjahanapur area of Uttar Pradesh collapsed on Sunday afternoon. According to a tweet by ANI, two people have been killed while 13 labourers have been rescued from the debris. Several others have been feared trapped. The injured ones have been sent to Lucknow. Three more people are suspected to be trapped. Meanwhile, teams of SDRF and NDRF have been dispatched from Lucknow.
Earlier this week, four people were killed and five were severely injured after temporary iron fixtures around an under-construction building collapsed in Noida’s Sector 94 on Sunday. According to reports by PTI, the incident took place when a sand-laden tractor trolley reportedly hit the temporary fixtures. According to a PTI report, the incident took place at the BPTP’s 18-storey Capital City. A FIR was registered at the Sector 39 police station in connection with the incident. The labourers were wearing helmets but had no safety harness. The local administration has assured compensation to the families of the deceased after an inquiry into the incident is conducted. “The Police are probing the matter and after that, due compensation will be given to the families of the victims as per the Wages Act,” City Magistrate Shalender Mishra informed. According to a report by PTI, at least five buildings have been found "dangerous" in Keshavpuram Zone of the north corporation in a fresh survey undertaken by the civic body in the wake of the collapse of a five-storeyed building in north-west Delhi.
