New Delhi, April 24: The Supreme Court on Wednesday summoned the heads of the CBI, Intelligence Bureau and Delhi Police after Utsav Bains, a lawyer who claimed there was a conspiracy to frame Chief Justice India Ranjan Gogoi on sexual harassment allegations, submitted proof in a sealed cover. A bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra, RF Nariman and Deepak Gupta said they will meet all the three officers in their chambers.

The apex court on Tuesday issued a notice to Utsav Bains and asked him to produce evidence in support of paras 17 and 20 of his affidavit filed in the apex court on Monday. Bains, in his affidavit, has said that he came to know about a conspiracy to frame Chief Justice Gogoi during the course of his enquiry after he was approached by a person asking him to appear for the alleged victim, and found missing links in the story.

The advocate claimed that he was informed by "reliable sources" that "certain fixers", who claim to be engaged in illegally managing judgments in exchange for cash are behind this plot as the CJI has taken decisive action to crack down on them. Bains, in his affidavit, said that in the course of his initial inquiry, every 'source' he met had 'only the knowledge of the conspiracy against Hon'ble CJI but not the names of the persons involved in hatching and executing the said conspiracy." Sexual Harassment Allegation Against CJI Ranjan Gogoi: Justice Bobde to Decide Next Step.

In his long affidavit, he alleged that a corporate entity in league with certain fixers had allegedly conspired to frame the CJI in a false case of sexual harassment for creating a situation to force him to resign. CJI Gogoi had convened a Special Bench on Saturday morning after the media published allegations of sexual harassment against him.

The CJI denied the allegations, saying the complainant has criminal antecedents and that there is a larger force behind these attempts which are part of a conspiracy to unsettle the judiciary. The Chief Justice also said that he will continue to discharge his duties and complete his full tenure. (With agency inputs)
