Pune, October 21: In a case of sextortion in Maharashtra, a 74-year-old man was allegedly cheated by a woman and her aide of Rs 30 lakh after they arranged his meeting with a sex worker in Pune. The incident came to light when the Pune police arrested the accused for allegedly extorting money from the senior citizen.
Police officials said the two accused had arranged a meeting between the victim and a sex worker. In his complaint filed on Thursday, October 19, the victim said that he knew a woman named Jyoti Bansode, who arranged a meeting for him with a female sex worker. The meeting took place in the Market Yard area in July this year, reports the Indian Express. Later, Bansode told the complaint that the sex worker was arrested for mobile phone theft. She also alleged that cops found his number in the contact list of the arrested woman. To settle the matter with the police, Bansode demanded money from the victim, who, out of fear, gave Rs 30 lakh to the accused and her aide, Ramchandra Korde.
Cops said that the complainant paid Rs 30 lakh in cash and cheque from time to time till October. However, the accused started demanding more money and threatened the victim, saying the police would take action against him if he did not give Rs 1 lakh every month. The two were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 419, 420 (cheating), and 384 (extortion). Speaking about the incident, inspector Swapnali Shinde said after arresting the accused, they were produced before a court on Friday, October 20. "The court remanded the accused in police custody till October 23 for further investigation," she said.
